Modify Email Receipt Placeholders

I'm on version 0.7.2

Recently, the content of ^^receipt^^ and ^^cart^^ placeholders has been generated with larger fonts than what it used to be. Is there a workaround to fix this issue?

    Hi @tachyon,

    Sorry about the unexpected font enlargement. I've just checked if this could be a side effect of any update on our side — it couldn't, because we didn't change anything.
    Is there a workaround
    Yes, you have full control of the presentation in your ^^cart^^ and ^^receipt^^ templates via CSS.
    1. Identify the container(s) where you want the font to be resized — e.g. #fc_cart_table thead th#fc_cart_head_quantity
    2. Create a rule to change the font and insert it:
      • In the ^^cart^^ template, right before the closing </head>: <style>#fc_cart_table thead th#fc_cart_head_quantity *{font-size: xxx}<style>
      • In the ^^receipt^^ template, right before the last closing </style>: #fc_cart_table thead th#fc_cart_head_quantity *{font-size: xxx}. You may want to review the existing CSS rules in this template and modify the relevant ones instead of creating extras
    3. Click "Update template"
    4. Test the results in different browsers !important
    The templates are in TEMPLATES » cart (https://admin.foxycart.com/admin.php?ThisAction=EditTemplate&template=cart) and TEMPLATES » receipt (https://admin.foxycart.com/admin.php?ThisAction=EditTemplate&template=receipt).

    Let us know if we can help with anything else.
  • Thanks for the suggestions, fc_roman.

    Seems like the default styling used for the font was rather large, though. For example, here is what ^^receipt^^ produces by default:

    <p id="fc_order_summary" style="color:#004b96;font-size:medium;"><strong>Order Summary:</strong></p>
    <ul style="font-size:28px;" id="fc_order_summary_ul">
    <li><strong>Order #:</strong> 14758221</li>
    <li><strong>Date:</strong> 2012-10-16 16:30:25</li>
    <li><strong>Order Total:</strong> A $ 25.00</li>
    <li><strong>Customer Title:</strong> Mr</li>
    <li><strong>Customer Mobile:</strong> 000000000</li>
    <li><strong>Subscribe To Newsletter:</strong> yes</li>
    </ul>
    <p id="fc_purchasing_information" style="color:#004b96;font-size:medium;"><strong>Purchasing Information:</strong></p>
    <p id="fc_purchasing_information_email">
    <span style="display:block;" class="fc_item_label"><strong>Email:</strong></span>
    <span class="fc_item_data">testemail@testdomain.com.au</span>
    </p>
    <p id="fc_purchasing_information_billing_address">
    <span style="display:block;" class="fc_item_label"><strong>Billing Address:</strong></span>
    <span class="fc_item_data"><br /><br />
    Test Donation<br />
    186 Test Rd<br />
    Test Suburb, VIC 3000<br />
    Australia<br />
    000000000<br />

    font-size:28px; seems rather large in the example above.

    In the meantime, I'll try to override fc_order_summary_ul as you described above.

    @tachyon,

    Interesting - where are you seeing that output? Looking at our standard HTML email code in 0.7.2, the #fc_order_summary_ul element has an inline style of font-size:12px;

    Apologies, it seems like in my haste to post I have forgotten what version our Foxycart was running at. It was 0.7.1

    We have our datafeed URL setup to generate PDF invoices based on the receipt template. To elaborate, we have a HTML template which we merge with ^^receipt^^ and ^^cart^^ outputs. Then, we feed this into tcpdf library to produce the resulting PDF.

    @tachyon,

    Thanks for clarifying. In 0.7.1, the font size is 12px as well. Is there any chance that difference in font-size is coming from part of your custom set up? There are other unique elements in what you pasted above such as the colour on the #fc_order_summary element that is not a part of our default template.
