Updating Twig partial templates

pmcneillpmcneill Member
I'm trying to alter the checkout.inc.twig template, experimenting with adding a new block on the left side of the page to capture some extra details from the user. I can update responsive.checkout.twig fine, but it never seems to use my updated checkout partial template. I'm storing everything in a public S3 bucket, and I've tried having everything in a single directory and using the default_templates subdirectory, as in the git repo. Here's the directory listing:

Is there an extra step I need to do?

Hey @pmcneill. I'm going to whisper you a bit more, but I'm not clear on what you're using S3 for? Are you caching those files from the Foxy admin?

Yes, exactly. I'm using S3 as a source for the template cache, instead of setting up somewhere on our production site and having to go through our normal release process for each step. For all the templates available in the admin panel, I have a remote template URL like "https://foxyassets.s3.amazonaws.com/foxy/responsive.checkout.twig"

Thanks for the additional details. Our caching system currently just works with the main template files (like cart.inc.twig, responsive.cart.twig, responsive.checkout.twig and responsive.receipt.twig).

For working with the includes within those templates, you'll need to include them within those parent templates to be able to make modifications.

That said, a lot of modifications can be made without needing to work with those raw include files. Could you provide some more details on the types of changes you're looking to make? We can give you some tips on the best way to approach it for those.
