Can't checkout in test mode

I put my store in test mode, because...well...we're testing something out!
After filling out the form, and using one of the well known test credit card numbers, I get the error:
Error: There was an error processing your payment: The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive. (Response Reason Code: 13)
I had chosen authorize.net as the test provider, with the default merchant info.

    Could you let us know which store this is for so we can take a look at your settings?

    It sounds like you've indicated this, but just to confirm, when you switched over to test mode, you selected the checkbox for "use default test account" and the test api id and test transaction key were correctly saved?

    If, somehow, your existing live account API credentials were entered there that might be part of the problem.
