FoxyCart Version 0.7.2 Released

We're excited to announce the production release of version 0.7.2. Though it has been available for quite some time as a beta version, we've finished adding new features and are ready to make it the default store version when creating new stores. We'd like to give a big thanks to all of our development partners who helped us refine and adjust things both in our private beta and open beta. There are a lot of great reasons to upgrade to 0.7.2 so please read the changelog and the upgrade instructions for each version you're upgrading through. The key thing you'll have to remember to do is go to your store's admin under the sample code section and copy the new FoxyCart includes for your site.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We're planning on releasing minor versions more often than we have in the past as we move toward our next major version release. To keep tabs on what we're up to development wise, please be sure to check our changelog blog regularly.

  • Bummer. Will we be able to continue using 0.7.0? Our only way to process cards is through our University's "Gift Administration" - there is no other online option for us.

    Hello razorfrog. Unfortunately, there's a good chance you're opening up the university and the radio station to a lot of litigation risk due to an increased PCI compliance burden. Are you fully compliant? If not, you really shouldn't be handling credit card numbers directly. Assuming you are PCI compliant and can take card numbers over the phone, I'd recommend using the Purchase Order option and contacting the customer for payment.

    @razorfrog: not indefinitely. At some point we may also contact stores using offline processing and remove that feature across all versions. It might be a good time to talk to the business manager about the details of PCI compliance: http://wiki.foxycart.com/primer/security

    Unfortunately we don't have a set timeline to give you, but when we do make a decision to cease support we would definitely give all stores using offline processing advanced warning to that fact so as to provide time to setup a gateway account or move to another service if that is required.

    Like Adam said, we'll provide at least a few months of notice. The last thing we want to do is cause any of our users to become furious with us by providing short warning.
