Datafeed response timeout time

I was curious how long the datafeed script waits for a "foxy" response. The transactions I'm handling have to get processed in a couple of places and if it takes too long, I'm worried the XML datafeed coming back again. I'm thinking of writing a caching system, but wanted to check on the timeout first.

Thank you all very much.

It might not be a bad idea to just grab the XML and dump it, raw, into a database real quick. Then you could run your own cron to process them without worrying about timing out. I'd definitely consider that if you were making calls to 3rd party systems, because if they go down then your script will time out, and the datafeed will time out, and that just wouldn't be fun.

There's the basics of a "dump to MySQL" script on our wiki:

Keep an eye on it. Luke may chime in on specific timeouts, but we sometimes change them depending on what we're seeing, load-wise, on our servers, so I don't want to give you a value because it might change down the road.
  • Thank you kindly. I think I'm going to have to go that route just to be safe, as you said.
