Coupon Code for a Single Product

in Help edited October 2014
I currently sell three products under the "default" category that had bulk discounts applied to them.

A customer contacted me about buying larger bulk quantities for a particular product. Is there a way I can create a coupon code for him for additional bulk pricing that'll only apply to that product?

In my head I think that means I should assign my product a unique category, create the same bulk discounts as it had before, then re-assign EXISTING coupon codes to that new category and call it a day. Am I missing something?

Thanks for all your help!

That would be the way to do it with coupons - you can only limit a coupon by category code currently. Depending on the product you're doing - you could also create a unique add to cart link for that product and send that customer the link to add the product, and set a product level discount as part of that URL, or simply set the pricing to the discounted amount.
