Hi,

We'll be switching domains next month and we're wondering what is the best strategy here.
We have a working foxycart store v1.1 and it works fine.

But right now, we're doing tests with a test store and the only version available is 2.0.

Our scenarios are the following
1- We switch domains and also the test store becomes the live store, our main concern is if we're going to lose the information we have gathered for our customer from our previous store.

2-We switch domains but we change the settings from foxycart live store v1.1 from olddomain.foxycart.com to newdomain.foxycart.com, and we upgrade 1.1 to 2.0, our concern is if there is downtime involved and any unexpected behavior when migrating.

Thanks

    @austinbizmart,

    So quickly to start off - if you're wanting to maintain the 1.1 version you're currently on - we can downgrade your test store to 1.1 so you can develop with that. That said though, if you're able to move to 2.0 as part of this process - we would highly recommend doing so. That way you remain on the latest and greatest.

    In terms of moving domains though, we'd recommend updating the domains on your current production store. That way you do maintain all of your store information like customers and orders within a single store.

    With upgrading at the same time - there would be some steps you'd need to run through as part of that upgrade. As I mentioned at the top, we can downgrade your test store as well so you can run through a simulation of that to allow you to see the different pieces involved.
