Paypal Error 10002 "You do not have permissions to make this API"

This error appears when someone tries to checkout using paypal. I confirmed we have the correct email in place in the store settings for paypal.

Any idea what is causing this?

    That's an error that is being returned from PayPal - and is essentially saying that FoxyCart doesn't have permission to communicate with PayPal. Take a look at the "Errors" section of our PayPal Express Checkout documentation here: https://wiki.foxycart.com/gateways/paypal/express_checkout#errors - that includes some information related to the 10002 error from PayPal.
  • Thanks Adam, I looked at the page you link to but all it has is another link to a page that is not built yet.

    I hadn't read this before because my use is all for one time product payments, no recurring or subscription billing at all. I did notice that I had a "automatically include past due amounts when processing subscriptions:" ticked in my advanced store settings for some reason, so I unchecked that and retested but still get the same paypal api error.

    I also read what Adeel posted but i'm not seeing anything that helps me in my situation.

    am i missing something?

    Thanks for your help. I'm heading over to paypal now to see what i can figure out there.
  • Adam, the page you sent me mentions setting up Paypal Pro. Is this the only way to get FC to work through paypal?
    That's not a direction I want to go.

    Sorry for the link in the docs not being correct - I've just fixed that, it should have linked to https://wiki.foxycart.com/gateways/paypal/payments_pro

    I understand you're not using subscriptions - but the error you're seeing there is saying that PayPal is blocking FoxyCart from making requests to your PayPal account. By following the instructions on the PayPal Payments Pro, that will ensure that FoxyCart has all the permissions it requires to communicate with your PayPal Express account. It's not that you need to have a PayPal Payments Pro account - but more about ensuring those permissions are granted.
