Extra Security

Am looking to develop an ecommerce solution for a jewellery store and they're particularly worried about fraudulent cards being used. How does your system go about preventing fraudulent card use, and do you have any extra measures available such as codes SMS'd to customers to verify their purchasing?

    With regards to fraud, we strongly recommend setting up any and all available anti-fraud prevention tools at the gateway level. Although, FoxyCart does have integration with MaxMind's minFraud service. Click that link to get a feel for what minFraud is, or just understand that it looks at all the available data from the customer and transaction and provides a riskScore.

    minfraud has really helped my business to identify fraud. We've set it to '0', which allows all transactions through but you get to see the minfraud score (the higher, the more risky, out of 100). Before using minfraud, it was much more difficult to differentiate genuine orders from fraudulent ones, but you'll soon get a feel for what score should be your cut-off.
